Overview

Ananda Shipyard & Slipways Ltd. (ASSL) carrying experience in shipbuilding since 1983 got incorporated in 1999 as a private limited company and has become public in 2009. Adopting modern shipbuilding technologies and practices since inception, ASSL has attained commendable expertise in the field of use of both steel and aluminum shipbuilding. It is the first ship exporter from Bangladesh and holder of export gold trophy along with quite a few national and international quality awards. Quality of its products is well known and praised at home and in abroad. It has introduced modern shipbuilding in Bangladesh and attained international recognition for Bangladeshi as a shipbuilding and exporting nation.

PRODUCTION FACILITIES and CAPACITY:
Production area of ASSL is 80,000 sq. meters .This reasonably large private sector shipyard has a capacity of producing ships using 30,000 tons of steel in a year.

It’s modern production facility comprises of a 200 m long Material Processing Plant fitted with a Automatic Shot Blasting and Priming Plant, 5 Numerically Controlled Cutting machines and 1 Auto Edge Preparation Machine. The hall is fitted with EOT Cranes 145 m long Fabrication Hall is equipped with press breakers up to 1000 ton capacity to produce curved plate of 30mm thickness for ship’s bow and bulbous bow. It is fitted with sheer, plate cutter, and plate rollers to produce 6 m long pipes. The hall is fitted with EOT Cranes, automatic welding, semi automatic and manual welding and gas cutting machines.
3 Shipbuilding Halls are fitted with EOT cranes and rail slipways. It’s 2 Fabrication Yards, each 200 m long, are fitted with shelter cranes and large EOTs. Each fabrication yard can produce blocks of a 10,000 ton capacity ship every month. Ananda Shipyard can produce 10 units 15,000 DWT ships annually.

Message from Chairman

Bangladesh is bestowed with essential major ingredients, such as, low cost hard working manpower, reasonable white color skills, good weather with longer daytime, deep draft basins navigable waterways leading to the sea, long coast line and above all a government with supportive polices and encouragement for steering the country to be a shipbuilding nation.

Shipbuilding immensely benefits any nation in her economic development. Human input is the largest in shipbuilding compared to that in any other known heavy industries and therefore provides employment in shipyards. It substantially contributes in earning foreign currencies, by exporting ships as well as by providing ships for carrying national and international sea borne commerce. It directly supports faster development of infrastructure and growth of heavy industries. It generates huge employment of mariners on board built ships. Over ages and around the glove, shipbuilding has proved itself as the stepping stone industry for economic development of nations. In a nut shell, shipbuilding stewards a nation to faster developments.

Message from MD

We started shipbuilding in a humble way in 1983 and put our every little earnings in our small shipyard. Toiling in sweat, we developed the yard and continuously improved the quality of our product. Ananda Shipyard has been the best and always will stand out as the best in terms of quality of built ships. I thank you all, my team of directors, management, engineers and workers for proving your determination, strength and agility.

Dedication, discipline and diligence will take us to new heights of glories. We have made Bangladesh known in the world as a ship building nation. From now on, our aim will be to make Bangladesh the leader of all ship building nations.

Quality of our works will brighten our goodwill. Our newly acquired experience of building military vessel, an oil tanker, 16” to 26” cutter suction dredgers and high powered tugs along with our learning in recession have made us stronger to shine in days to come. Inshallah we shall remain ever growing.

History

ANANDA SHIPYARD & SLIPWAYS LTD. [ASSL] has emerged as a limited company in 1999. The goodwill, experience, equipment, and manpower of the shipbuilding division of ANANDA BUILDERS LTD. [ABL], an engineering Company established in 1983 with major interest in shipbuilding, were taken over by ASSL. Since inception, ASSL has undertaken various projects for the Government, funded by the Govt. of Bangladesh and donors, as well as for private owners.

The quality of the works has been certified by reputed classification societies & inspection agencies. In general, the shipyard has satisfied the quality requirements as well as delivery schedules of clients.

Production area of ANANDA SHIPYARD & SLIPWAYS LTD. comprises 80,000 sq. meters, of which 20,000 sq. meters are covered. Shipbuilding halls are fitted with EOTS and Slipways are with Gantry crane. Yard's workshop is fitted with modern machinery and equipment. About 126 qualified & experienced personnel are leading a workforce of more than 1000 in the sections of lofting, cutting, welding, erection, fitting, woodworking, mechanical works, electrical works, painting and quality control and thus producing reasonably modern quality vessels. The in-house computer aided design office provides designs/drawings to the shipyard. ASSL has completed 27 marine craft under special survey of Lloyds Register of Shipping (LRS), Nippon Kiokai Kaijee (NKK) and Germanischer Lloyd (GL). Presently ASSL is building 45th class vessel.

In terms of equipment, manpower & experience the shipyard now ranks among the top shipyards in South Asia.

Quality Policy

Ananda Shipyard & Slipways Ltd. establishes its Quality Management system in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 and also maintains and continually improves the management system through customer satisfaction, complaints as well as a requirements-capturing process using the tools of Quality management system. It also encompasses a robust quality assurance system where all the conformities are verified.

Ananda Shipyard & Slipways Ltd. top management is committed to ensure that the quality policy is achieved through:

1. Meeting customer’s needs and expectations by supplying quality steel rods uninterruptedly.
2. Applying a culture of continual improvement by setting quality objectives and achieving them through the use of quality system procedures.
3. Improving product and process quality by proper planning and evaluation, development of new methods and products, management review, routine internal audit, and where necessary taking corrective and preventive actions.
4. Improving the skill and competence through regular training and awareness of all personnel.
5. Assessing risks and opportunities and reducing or mitigating them with proper risk mitigation plans 45 class vessel.

Ananda Shipyard & Slipways Ltd. will have a system for obtaining feedback from interested parties in respect of the Quality Management System and analyze them for our future improvement
